How we are governed
The foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors, which is now being formed. The board holds legal and fiduciary responsibility for the foundation and its programs.
Our programs, BMAAP, Ukhtī, the Bookclub, and Freedom Schools, operate under the foundation. Program committees plan and advise on day-to-day work, while final financial and legal authority rests with the board. BMAAP publishes its own committee charter and standards on bmaap.org.
Our commitments
- Use every gift for the purpose it was given and report on how resources are used.
- Protect the privacy of donors, applicants, and participants.
- Handle history, stories, and community materials with consent and care.
- Welcome people of every faith and background in our secular programs.
- Disclose and manage conflicts of interest.
As the founding board forms, we will adopt and publish our bylaws, a conflict of interest policy, and a whistleblower policy here.
